Dr. Awilda (Lexy) Figueroa
Dr. Awilda (Lexy) Figueroa is originally from Isabela, Puerto Rico. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. Growing up, she saw both of her parents suffer from back pain. Her dad, a veteran, injured his lower back in the service, while her mom started experiencing pain after her 3 pregnancies. They both would benefit from the care of the local chiropractor, who was always very helpful to them.
As she was studying for her Bachelor’s Degree, she went on a church summer mission trip where she started praying to see what God wanted her to do after college. When she came back, she met a chiropractor who told her she would be an excellent practitioner, and invited her to shadow him for a few hours. That day, she fell in love with Chiropractic care, and made the decision to leave her beloved home in beautiful Puerto Rico. She came to Connecticut and began to study at the University of Bridgeport School of Chiropractic. Dr. Figueroa has been practicing at Omni since she graduated in 2006.
Dr. Figueroa is well-versed in Applied Kinesiology, and has completed hundreds of hours of post graduate courses. She has been an active member of the Spanish community in the West Haven and New Haven areas, where she gives health speeches in English and Spanish about the benefits of Chiropractic care. She is an active member of her church and has enjoyed being a part of their worship team. Since 2011, Dr. Figueroa has served on the Board of Directors at the Hill Health Center. Dr. Figueroa is also a proud wife and mother of two wonderful children. She enjoys going back home to the sun of her beautiful Borinquen as often as she can.
