Physical Therapy
Omni Physical & Aquatic Therapy provides outpatient physical therapy at its Wallingford office, where licensed physical therapists develop, maintain, and restore maximum movement and functional ability after injury, surgery, or illness.
Physical therapists are licensed medical professionals with the skills required to diagnose physical abnormalities and restore physical function and mobility. In doing so, they address pain, promote physical activity, and help restore independent function.
A physical therapist cares for patients in all phases of healing, from initial diagnosis through the restorative and preventive stages of recovery. At Omni, physical therapy is provided as primary care treatment or in coordination with other medical services. Our patient-centered approach connects physical therapy and chiropractic care under one roof, with medical affiliations that let us refer you to pain medicine physicians and other specialists when your care calls for it.
The ultimate goal is to restore maximum functional independence for each individual patient. To get there, our therapists integrate modalities such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation, joint mobilization, exercise, massage, aquatic therapy, and patient education into a plan of care designed for each individual's rehabilitation needs and goals.
Recovery also doesn't have to end when formal therapy does. Omni's computer-guided performance and balance training program uses baseline testing and guided training to help you keep the progress you made in physical therapy and build on it.

Physical Therapy — frequently asked questions
- Do I need a referral to start physical therapy at Omni?
- Connecticut allows direct access to physical therapy, so in many cases you can be evaluated without a physician referral. Some insurance plans do require one. Call the Omni office nearest you and our staff will verify your coverage and let you know before your first visit.
- What should I bring to my first physical therapy appointment?
- Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, any referral or prescription from your doctor, a list of current medications, and comfortable clothing you can move in. If your injury is from a car accident or work injury, bring your claim number and adjuster contact information.
- How long does each physical therapy session take?
- Plan on about an hour for your initial evaluation. Follow-up treatment sessions typically run 30–60 minutes depending on your plan of care.
